(2) Interview report

3. Report on country/region and culture:
Vietnam is located on the eastern Indochina Peninsula between the latitudes 8° and 24°N, and the longitudes 102° and 110°E. It covers a total area of approximately 331,210 km2 (127,881 sq mi),Vietnam's land is mostly hilly and densely forested, with level land covering no more than 20%. Mountains account for 40% of the country's land area, and tcover around 42%.The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a single-party state. The official national language of Vietnam is Vietnamese, a tonal monosyllabic Mon–Khmer language which is spoken by the majority of the population.

For much of Vietnamese history, Mahayana Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism have been the dominant religions, strongly influencing the national culture. The Vietnamese government rejects allegations that it does not allow religious freedom. The state's official position on religion is that all citizens are free to their belief, religion and that all religions are equal before law.Nevertheless, only government-controlled religious organisations are allowed; for example, the South Vietnam-founded Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam is banned in favour of a communist-approved body.

Vietnam's culture has developed over the centuries from indigenous ancient  culture with wet rice agriculture as its economic base.

1.     What could SCSU do to make your stay on campus better?
I think SCSU’s restaurant should provide more Chinese food for us. School should build more sky ways because it is very difficult for students walk outside during winter time. Becasue i am an international student, english is not my first lauguage. Therefore, I hope school can allow us to use translater during quizes. sometimes, i get a very low grade but don't means i don't know how to do it. i just struggleing with the english questions.

Everyone have their own secreats. Because secreat is secreat, I always don't want to share with others. I could
tell one secreat when i was in high school. I didn't tell my mother I skiped class for one day. why I choose to skip class, i felt i am under a lot of pressure. too much homeworks and exems, and i don't want to do it. Therefore, I tell a lie to teacher to say i feel unconfortable i need to go home. But i tell my mother say my friend has emergency so i need to go to her home. Actually, I just skip class and hand out with my frinds. I feel so sorry about that.

3. Which country`s food do you like the most? What are the similarities and differences between it and your own culture`s food?
In this world, I love Chinese cuisine the most. If you want me to choose other country’s food, it would be french cuisine. I like french dessert because french dessert not only like tasty good food. When you look at these dessert in front of you,you can see how much cookers care about it. Compare Chinese food and french food, you will see a huge different between them.

4. What are the typical greetings in your culture and what do they mean?
The most common word for greeting in china is to say “你好 (ni hao)”which has the same meaning as “hello” In English. Chinese traditional shows the honour low orderly. Younger generations should extend greetings to older generations first. Unlike other countries people use other people’s last name for greeting directly. We often add one honorific after their last name, such as:” wang” (last name) yie yie (means grandfather in Chinese) or zhao(last name) shu shu(uncle).” Although here “yie yie or shu shu” do not mean our real relatives, we still use it for greetings.  “Shake hands and hug” are most common greeting gestures in china. Most of times, in some business occasions  We shake hands.

5. What kind of government is in charge of your home country, how did it affect your life and how has democracy in America been a change?
China is an Socialist country. Because china has almost 16 billion populations, we can not like other country's to elect Premier by ourselves. Therefore,  Chinese Citizens need to deputy to the National People's Congress firstly, then these people will represent citizens to vote. As you can see, we can not express our wish directly. Sometimes,it may have many problems to contact with them. In American, I think a few of citizens change their attitude toward government.

There are many kinds of transportation In my country China. Buses and cars are most common transportation's because there are very convenience in both citys and countrys. Airplans and trains are the basic transportations in every county because people take them a lot. Recently, high speed rail and metro are more and more popular in china. Many china big cities spend much money to build them because we think to build high speed rail and metro not only is investment, but also makes improvement about our living level.

I told them i don't want to go to school anymore. after a few days, I knew a lots of friends i just tell them i want to go to school everyday.

This is a tough question for me to answer because I don’t have any religion belief. However, I don’t have religious belief doesn’t mean that I don’t believe religions. I think people who lives in this word, god can not help you do everything, you need to use your own ability to do things. Therefore, I always believe myself is the only one who can help myself.

PingPong is the traditional activity in China. It is just like tennis but play on a table with a much small ball. It has long time development, and has got the attention of our nation. Almost many years passed, it has improved our national role in the world. Now there are many perfect players in our nation team and we always call them Dream Team just like the basketball team of the United States because they almost win all games.
