1. What could SCSU do to make your stay on campus better?
I think SCSU’s restaurant should provide more Chinese food for us. School should build more sky ways because it is very difficult for students walk outside during winter time. Becasue i am an international student, english is not my first lauguage. Therefore, I hope school can allow us to use translater during quizes. sometimes, i get a very low grade but don't means i don't know how to do it. i just struggleing with the english questions.
2. Could you tell me a secret about yourself that very few people here know about and that shows us well, who you are and what you stand for?
Everyone have their own secreats. Because secreat is secreat, I always don't want to share with others. I could
tell one secreat when i was in high school. I didn't tell my mother I skiped class for one day. why I choose to skip class, i felt i am under a lot of pressure. too much homeworks and exems, and i don't want to do it. Therefore, I tell a lie to teacher to say i feel unconfortable i need to go home. But i tell my mother say my friend has emergency so i need to go to her home. Actually, I just skip class and hand out with my frinds. I feel so sorry about that.
3. Which country`s food do you like the most? What are the similarities and differences between it and your own culture`s food?
In this world, I love Chinese cuisine the most. If you want me to choose other country’s food, it would be french cuisine. I like french dessert because french dessert not only like tasty good food. When you look at these dessert in front of you,you can see how much cookers care about it. Compare Chinese food and french food, you will see a huge different between them.
4. What are the typical greetings in your culture and what do they mean?
The most common word for greeting in china is to say “你好 (ni hao)”which has the same meaning as “hello” In English. Chinese traditional shows the honour low orderly. Younger generations should extend greetings to older generations first. Unlike other countries people use other people’s last name for greeting directly. We often add one honorific after their last name, such as:” wang” (last name) yie yie (means grandfather in Chinese) or zhao(last name) shu shu(uncle).” Although here “yie yie or shu shu” do not mean our real relatives, we still use it for greetings. “Shake hands and hug” are most common greeting gestures in china. Most of times, in some business occasions We shake hands.
5. What kind of government is in charge of your home country, how did it affect your life and how has democracy in America been a change?
China is an Socialist country. Because china has almost 16 billion populations, we can not like other country's to elect Premier by ourselves. Therefore, Chinese Citizens need to deputy to the National People's Congress firstly, then these people will represent citizens to vote. As you can see, we can not express our wish directly. Sometimes,it may have many problems to contact with them. In American, I think a few of citizens change their attitude toward government.
6. What different modes of transportation are used in your country?
There are many kinds of transportation In my country China. Buses and cars are most common transportation's because there are very convenience in both citys and countrys. Airplans and trains are the basic transportations in every county because people take them a lot. Recently, high speed rail and metro are more and more popular in china. Many china big cities spend much money to build them because we think to build high speed rail and metro not only is investment,but also makes improvement about our living level.
7. At what age do you start school? Are you under a lot of stress in school??
I went to kingdegadom at 5 years old. I still remember that when the first time I went to school, I can not stop crying. My parents go with me to the school but i do not want to stay alone. I told them i don't want to go to school anymore. after a few days, I knew a lots of friends i just tell them i want to go to school everyday.
we both young when we study in school. when i was 18 years old, I went to American. Becasue different culture background so i have to learning so hard to adapt my new life.
8. What religious holidays or other cultural events do you or others celebrate; can you explain your traditions for each?
There are many traditional holidays in china but the most well-known and typical holidays are spring festival, Qing Ming Jie, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) is the biggest holiday in China. Before the midnight come, all family members seat together to make dumplings, also more fireworks after midnight. “Qing Ming Jie” is to visit, clean, and make offerings at ancestral gravesides. Dragon boat festival commemorates the ancient poet Qu Yuan, we eat rice dumping which wrapped rice and meat or beans in lotus leaves. In moon festival, we eat moon cakes; all family members will come to together to eat family union meal.
9. Do you have any daily rituals in regards to your religious beliefs?
This is a tough question for me to answer because I don’t have any religion belief. However, I don’t have religious belief doesn’t mean that I don’t believe religions. I think people who lives in this word, god can not help you do everything, you need to use your own ability to do things. Therefore, I always believe myself is the only one who can help myself.
10. How would you describe famous sports in your country?
PingPong is the traditional activity in China. It is just like tennis but play on a table with a much small ball. It has long time development, and has got the attention of our nation. Almost many years passed, it has improved our national role in the world. Now there are many perfect players in our nation team and we always call them Dream Team just like the basketball team of the United States because they almost win all games. There is no doubt that everyone in my home country loves Ping-Pong and supports our nation team.
I believe it will keep on playing more important role in the future and achieve more attention from all over the world
11.Can you describe a typical day for a child in your country?
In the moring, they probably wake up at 6:10am because they have moring class at 6:40 during class time. they have to wake up to eat breakfest and write school bus. Most of their parents are very busy for their job so they can not go with their children. There are 5 classes during moring class, after each class there has 10 minites break. After all moring class done, it is a lunch break time. often has 2 hours. after they finish lunch. The life teacher will requir students snap for a while. Then is afternoon course, it takes 3 hours. After they go back home, many class homework write for them to do it. After they done their school homework, their parents will give them extra homework. In china, everystudent is busy for doing their homeworks.
